Diamonds cut in the emerald shape are often rectangular. Because emerald shaped diamonds have flat planes on its outside edges, it can be set with various side stones. Popular settings include two or three side baguettes, two half-moons and other smaller emeralds. The ideal length-to-width ratio should be 1.5:1 to 1.75:1. Diamonds with a three side cut don't complement emerald shaped diamonds.
